Fishbowl Theatre was founded with the mandate to provide "Theatre that is uncommonly real and really uncommon - your life, only not." Wendy MacLeod's "suburban Jacobean" tragedy, The House of Yes, seems to me the perfect place to start. The characters that we see on stage are immoral, insane, freakish, grotesque - and so it has been our challenge to present them as human beings.
When you are performing in a fishbowl, there is always the risk that you will become a freakshow, and that the audience will be reduced to voyeurs. We have tried to use the fishbowl another way - as a means of magnifying and examining behaviour and ideas which are definitely weird, but all the more human because of this.
It is has been a great pleasure to direct Fishbowl Theatre's inaugural production, and I would like to thank the cast and crew for all their hard work over the last months.
                                   Enjoy the show!
